Series of Private Singing Lessons with Patricia Rozario OBE
On offer is a series of 5 private singing lessons at the Royal
College of Music with Patricia Rozario OBE. Born in Bombay,
Patricia Rozario gained a BA in English and French from Bombay
University before coming to London to study at the Guildhall School
of Music, winning the Gold Medal and the Maggie Teyte Prize. She
also studied at the National Opera Studio in London and won prizes
at the Salzburg Mozarteum, S’Hertogenbosch International Singing
Competition, Benson and Hedges Competition at Aldeburgh, and
International Young Artist Competition at Tunbridge Wells. The
Vocal lessons will focus on developing the breath-control, the
quality of the tone and range of the voice. Exercises will be
undertaken to improve flexibility, dynamic range and muscle
strength. The winner would be encouraged to bring songs and arias
they knew to work on quality sounds and interpretation.
Patricia’s career has developed in opera, concert work, recording and broadcasting. Her unique voice and artistry has inspired over 15 of the world’s leading composers to write for her, most notably Arvo Pärt and Sir John Tavener, who alone has now written over thirty works for her, making their collaboration unique in the contemporary field. Her wide concert and opera repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music. She has given the premiere performances of many pieces written especially for her including Pärt’s Como Anhela la Cierva(the Proms and all over Europe), Beastly Tales by Roxanna Panufnik, and Tavener’s Life Eternal, Ikon of Eros, Veil of the Temple in London(Temple church and Proms) and New York (Lincoln Centre), Lament for Jerusalem in Australia(Sydney Opera house) and Schuon Lieder at the Ravinia. Patricia has also performed Opera at Aix-en-Provence, Lyons Opera, Lille Opera, Glyndebourne, ENO, Linbury Studio/Covent Garden, Opera North, Kent Opera, Amsterdam Opera, Antwerp Opera, Bastille, Bremen, Innsbruck and Frankfurt.
Singing lessons will be given in the evening, and must be used before the end of 2013.
